Nutrition and psychological support: we look after you before, during and after

Surgery is a tool. What makes the result last is what you eat, how you move and how you relate to food. That is why nutritional and psychological guidance is part of the process, not an extra.

What it is

Bariatric Nutrition & Psychological Support

Before surgery, the nutrition team prepares you with a diet that reduces the size of the liver and teaches the habits you will need afterwards. After surgery, they guide you through each stage of the diet, your protein and fluid goals and the supplements you will take.

Psychological guidance helps you prepare for a fast change in your body and in your routine: emotional eating, expectations, self-image and the reactions of the people around you. Follow-up visits can be held by video call for patients who live far away.

What the support covers

  • Pre-op diet to prepare the liver
  • Staged post-op diet: liquids, purées, soft foods, solids
  • Protein, hydration and vitamin plan
  • Guidance on emotional eating and habits
  • Follow-up by video call for patients abroad

The indication is confirmed at your evaluation.

Step by step

The diet after surgery, in 4 stages

Clear liquids

The first days: water, broth and sugar-free drinks in small, frequent sips.

Full liquids and purées

Protein shakes, strained soups and puréed foods while the stomach heals.

Soft foods

Eggs, fish, soft chicken and cooked vegetables, chewed thoroughly and eaten slowly.

Solid foods

A balanced, protein-first diet in small portions, with liquids taken between meals rather than with them.

Afterward

Habits that protect your result

Eat protein first, chew slowly, stop at the first sign of fullness, drink between meals, take your vitamins every day and move daily. Keep your follow-up visits even when everything is going well: weight regain is far easier to prevent than to reverse.

FAQ

What people ask most

Do I really need a pre-op diet?

Yes. It shrinks the liver, which sits over the stomach, and makes the operation safer and shorter.

When can I eat normally again?

Solid food usually returns around four to six weeks after surgery, in small portions. 'Normal' will look different from before, and that is the point.

Why psychological support?

Because eating is not only about hunger. Patients who work on habits and emotions tend to keep their results longer.
