Laparoscopic general surgery in Tijuana: minimal invasion, maximum benefit
Both surgeons at Bariatric Care Center are general surgeons first. Beyond weight-loss surgery, they treat the everyday problems of the abdomen through incisions of a few millimeters whenever it is the best option.

Laparoscopic General Surgery
Laparoscopic surgery is performed with a camera and fine instruments introduced through incisions of 0.5 to 1.5 centimeters. The surgeon sees the abdomen magnified on a screen and works with less trauma to the tissues than in open surgery.
For most patients this means less pain after surgery, a shorter hospital stay, a faster return to daily activity, a lower risk of wound infection and hernias, and smaller scars. It is not always possible: when open surgery is safer for your case, you will be told why.

How a laparoscopic surgery works
Evaluation
History, exam and the studies needed to confirm the diagnosis and plan the approach.
Pre-op
Internal medicine evaluation, lab work and electrocardiogram according to your age and health.
Surgery
General anesthesia, small incisions and a camera. Most procedures take about an hour.
Recovery
In most cases, discharge the same day or the next, with written instructions and scheduled follow-up.
Getting back to normal
Walk from the first day, shower after 24 to 48 hours as instructed and keep the incisions clean and dry. Most people return to desk work in about a week. Lifting and intense exercise are reintroduced gradually according to the procedure.
What people ask most
Is laparoscopy always better than open surgery?
In most cases it offers a more comfortable recovery, but not in all. Previous surgeries, very large hernias or certain emergencies may make open surgery the safer choice.
Will I go home the same day?
Often yes, for hernias and some gallbladder cases. It depends on the procedure and on how you feel after anesthesia.
Do you treat emergencies?
Surgical emergencies such as appendicitis or an incarcerated hernia need a hospital emergency department. Call us and we will guide you.
